A Little About Me

"The word of the Lord stands forever.”  (1 Peter 1:25)

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!  I am a Lutheran pastor who, by the grace of God, currently serves the Devon, Galata, and Trinity Churches in north-central Montana.

My wife, Jen, and I are very happily married, having been wedded in San Jose, California, on March 23, 2002.

I received my education at Mt. San Antonio College, St. Olaf College, and Trinity Lutheran Seminary.  While in seminary, I completed a year of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Oregon State Hospital in Salem, Oregon, from 2000 – 2001.  In 2003, I was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament at my Internship congregation, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newark, Ohio.

In addition to ministry to the three congregations, both on Sunday mornings and during the week, I am also involved in outreach to the communities of Shelby and Chester, through the Ministerial Associations of both those communities.    I am enthusiastic and passionate about mission, reaching out to the wider community, and encouraging and empowering others to do the same.     To this end, I hold Bible studies, worship services, Communion services, and classes at the Crossroads Correctional Facility, Liberty County Nursing Home, Marias Care Center, and Marias Heritage Center.  (In my previous parish, I gained experience with preaching on the radio as well.)  Additionally, I serve as the Chair of the Golden Triangle Cluster of the Montana Synod and Secretary of the Liberty County Ministerial Association.  I also serve as a volunteer camp pastor at Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp, and am active in the work of the Synod in many other ways.

For additional community involvement, I am currently affiliated with Boy Scout Troop 555 in Shelby as a Unit Commissioner for the NuOohSka District.  I have been involved in the Boy Scouts since 1990, am an Eagle Scout, a Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association, a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, and a member of the National Lutheran Association on Scouting.  I also serve as the District Training Chairman.  In 2008, I was named District Scouter of the Year.  I enjoy reading to the kids at the Galata Elementary School 2-3 times a month as well.  Also, my wife and I frequently serve as judges at local high school Speech and Drama competitions.  I further serve as Secretary of the Toole County Library Board.  I am also an avid guitar player and can be found playing for Guitar Sunday on the fourth Sunday of each month.  In my spare time, I enjoy anything having to do with nature and the outdoors, and reading the newspaper.

Want to know anything else about me?  Feel free to drop me an email.  God bless you and thank you for stopping by!
